Activity During WWII

Rank: Gunnery Sergeant. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps September 9, 1939 at Richmond, Virginia, with recruit training assigned to the Second Recruit Battalion, Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton Oceanside, California for combat training. Served as a Senior Enlisted Advisor and assigned to Headquarters Company, Third Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment and Second Marine Division Location: Territory of Hawaii. On May 21, 1944 he died in the Line of Duty, while participating in field maneuvers on Pauwela Point, Hawaii. He was interred by his Brothers-in-Arms at the Oahu Nuuanu Cemetery, Territory of Hawaii. Succeeding hostilities with Japan, the family of this Marine requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Honolulu Memorial Cemetery Location: Honolulu, Hawaii, with interment January 27, 1949. This American Patriot received the following decoration posthumously: Navy-Marine Corps Medal. This decoration was awarded for Heroism involved in risking his life, to save the life of another.
