Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps from California, with recruit training assigned to the Sixth Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton Oceanside, California for combat training. Served as a Demolitionist of an Assault Platoon and assigned to Charlie Company, First Battalion, Twenty-Fourth Marine Regiment and Fourth Marine Division Location: Western Pacific Theater of Operations. His division participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Battle Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945) Code Name: Operation Detachment. Reported missing in action or buried at sea March 7, 1945 during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese forces. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Honolulu Memorial Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. This American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously: Silver Star and the Purple Heart. The Silver Star was awarded for Distinguished Gallantry in Action and Valor in Combat against an enemy force, and the Purple Heart for his ultimate sacrifice.
