Served consecutively as Chief of Staff, Carrier Strike Group 6 and as Air Officer, Philippine Sea frontier and participated in the Philippine Islands campaign. Participated in the Battle of Saipan, Battle of Tinian, Battle of Leyte, Recapture of Guam, and Battle of Okinawa. Received the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", Legion of Merit with Combat "V", Navy Presidential Unit Citations and Navy Unit Commendation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze 3/16" service stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars, and American Defense Service Medal with "A" Device.
