Rank: Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps September 15, 1939 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with recruit training assigned to the Fourth Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Geiger, North Carolina for combat training. Following basic and advanced infantry training, he served as a Rifleman with Fox Company, Second Battalion, Twenty-Second Marine Regiment a subordinate of the First Provisional Brigade Location: Central Pacific Theater of Operations. His Brigade participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Guam (Dates of Battles: July 21-August 10, 1944) Code Name: Operation Forager. On July 21, 1944 he was mortally wounded during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese forces, with burial in the Brigade cemetery Location: Orote Peninsula. Succeeding hostilities with Japan, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at a private cemetery in New York. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
