Activity During WWII

He enlisted on March 19, 1940 in Nebraska. He trained at the Naval Training Station in Shields, Illinois and was there in May of 1940. On July 23, 1940, he sailed to Pearl Harbor from San Pedro, California on the USS Tippecanoe and was assigned to the USS Detroit (CL-8) and was a Pearl Harbor Attack survivor. He also served on the USS Newcastle Victory (AK-233) Locations of his service were: Pacific Theater, Aleutian Islands (Alaska), Great Lakes, Illinois, San Diego, California, Hawaii. He received an honorable discharge on March 30, 1946 in San Francisco, California.
