Activity During WWII

He was 19, when he was assigned to the Army’s Panther Division. He was stationed near Poole, England, when orders were received to head to the Battle of the Bulge. The troop ship they were assigned, the SS Leopoldville, was torpedoed by a German U-boat near Cherbourg, France on December 24, 1944. He survived and was sent to watch over German Army forces on a submarine base in France.
