Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps January 5, 1942 at Denver, Colorado, with recruit training assigned to the Seventh Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton Oceanside, California for combat training. Following basic and advanced infantry training, he served as a Rifleman with Charlie Company, First Battalion, Second Marine Regiment a subordinate unit of the Second Marine Division. His Division participated in the amphibious assault on the island of Guadalcanal (Battle Dates: August 7, 1942-February 9, 1943) Code Name: Operation Watchtower Location: Southwestern Pacific Theater of Operations. Reported missing in action November 2, 1942, during a combat operation against the Imperial Japanese Forces. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Location: Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippine Islands. In his Memory and Honor, a Cenotaph Memorial has been placed at the Roselawn Cemetery Location: Pueblo, Colorado. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
