Activity During WWII

Inducted at Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, in 1943. Trained at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma. Briefly assigned to an engineer battalion in the 42nd 'Rainbow' Division. Served with the 1901st Engineer Aviation Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Participated in the Ryukyus campaign beginning in April 1945, including the invasion of and Battle of Okinawa. Unit captured and maintained the Kadena Airfield. Occupational duty in Korea September 1945-January 1946. Honorably discharged 1946.
