Joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1945 to 1946 as a Seaman 1st Class. Entered the Navy at Naval Receiving Station, New Haven, Connecticut and attended basic at Great Lakes, Illinois, and service schools at Naval Training Station, Chicago, Illinois. Additional duty stations included Personnel Separation Center, Sampson, New York, Receiving Station, Brooklyn and Personnel Separation Center, Lido Beach, Long Island, New York. Awarded the WWII Victory Medal and an American Theater Medal.
