Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Army August 19, 1943 at Denver, Colorado, with recruit training at Camp Bowie, Texas. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Hood, Texas for combat infantry and tank training. He served as a Tank Cannoneer with Bravo Company an element of the 814th Tank Destroyer Battalion. His battalion was deployed to the European Theater of Operations, going ashore on Utah Beach, France August 8, 1944 attached to the Seventh Armored Division. Reported missing in action October 29, 1944, during combat operations against the German armed forces, in the vicinity of Astern, Netherlands. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Netherlands American Cemetery Location: Margraten, Netherlands. This American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously: Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. The Bronze Star was awarded to the Soldier for Bravery, Act of Merit and Meritorious Service in Combat, and the Purple Heart for his ultimate sacrifice.
