Activity During WWII

First Lieutenant. Entered service November 5, 1942. Served as a Field Artillery Commander with the 977th Field Artillery Battalion. Unit was equipped with the long-barreled 155 millimeter guns nicknamed "Long-Toms". In 492 days of combat, 977th participated in 7 campaigns; Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe. Declaration: Awarded European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 5 battle stars, Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster, American Defense Ribbon. Separated service December 8, 1945.
