Activity During WWII

On July 6, 1942, he was inducted into the service. With the 937th Field Artillery Battalion, Headquarters Battery, he completed his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He then left for the European Theatre of Operations. He participated in the D-Day Invasion and was wounded by shrapnel when his landing ship was hit by a bomb. He holds the following awards: Purple Heart, European Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre and Good Conduct Medals. Having the necessary points, he was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945, from Fort Dix, New Jersey.
