He was called to service on August 25, 1942, receiving his basic training at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts. he was attached to Company C of the 11th medical Battalion. He saw service in the African Campaign. In November of 1943, he received a medical Discharge after undergoing treatment at the U.S. Veterans Hospital at Northport, New York.
