Activity During WWII

On May 22, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He completed his basic training at the United States Coast Guard Training Center, Curtis Bay, Maryland. and was stationed on the USS Tahoma, USS General Randall and the USS Leonard Wood. In Greenland, he served sixteen months on patrol and on convoy duty with 5,000 troops from Newport News, Virginia, to Bombay, India, and with 1,600 troops to the Philippine Islands. His awards include the European and Asiatic Ribbons. On September 10, 1945, he was honorably discharged from Brooklyn, New York at the convenience of the government.
