Rank: Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Army December 11, 1942 at Denver, Colorado. Following infantry training, he served as a Rifleman with the Eighteenth Infantry Regiment a subordinate unit of the First Infantry ‘The Big Red One’ Division, attached to the U.S. First Army Location: European theater of Operations. His division participated in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest against the German Armed forces (Battle Dates: September 19-December 16, 1944). Sunday, September 24, 1944 he was mortally wounded, during a combat engagement in the vicinity of Jüngersdorf Germany. Personnel from the American Graves registration company, buried him in the battlefield cemetery; Ellpen, Belgium. In the post-war era, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Henri-Chapelle, Belgium. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimately sacrifice in defense of his country.
