SERVED WITH THE 9TH AIR FORCE, 344TH BOMB GROUP, 495TH BOMB SQUADRON IN ITALY. BOMBARDIER ON A B-26 MARAUDER BOMBER THAT WAS HIT BY GERMAN ANTI-AIRCRAFT FIRE OVER OCHTENDUNG, GERMANY. HE BAILED OUT SAFELY BUT WAS CAPTURED AND HUNG BY LOCAL CIVILIANS. AWRDED THE AIR MEDAL, PURPLE HEART, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
