Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps April 28, 1942 at Saint Paul, Minnesota, completing basic training with the Ninth Recruit Battalion Recruit Depot; Marine Corps Base San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton Oceanside, California for combat training. Following infantry training, he served as a Rifleman with Echo Company, Second Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment, a subordinate of the First Marine ‘the Old Breed’ Division. His Division participated in the amphibious assault on Guadalcanal Island (Battle Dates: August 7, 1942-February 9, 1943) Code Name: Operation Watchtower, Location: Southwestern Pacific Theater of Operations. Sunday, October 25, 1942 he was mortally wounded, during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese Forces, with burial in the Guadalcanal First Marine Division battlefield cemetery. In the post-war era, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Honolulu Memorial Cemetery Location: Honolulu, Hawaii, with interment March 22, 1949. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimately sacrifice in defense of his country.
