On September 5, 1942, he enlisted in the Medical Division of the U.S. Navy. His boot training was completed at the great Lakes Naval Training School: then he was assigned to the naval Hospital, Norman, Oklahoma, for further training. As a Pharmacist's Mate, He served aboard ship in the Pacific theater of operations for two years and made many trips to and from war areas. His Awards include the Asiatic-Pacific and the Good Conduct Medals. On January 13, 1946, he was honorably discharged at Lido Separation Center, New York.
