Activity During WWII

He was inducted into the U.S. Navy in July of 1942 and fulfilled duty assignments as a Boatswain’s Mate Second Class attached to the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. This unit was responsible for retro-fitting liberty ships with deck guns during the war. He served aboard a total of eleven ships including the USS Karin, the USS Thomas R. Robertson and USS Arcturus. He received the American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
