Rank: Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Army February 24, 1943 at Roanoke, Virginia. Following recruit and advanced infantry training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations. He served as a Rifleman with the 112th Infantry Regiment, a subordinate unit of the Twenty-Eighth Infantry AKA: Keystone Division, attached to the U.S. First Army. His division participated in the capture-occupation of Gathemo, France, against the German Armed forces Battle-of-Normandy. During the ensuing battle, he was killed in action Tuesday, August 8, 1944, with burial in the Le Chene-Guerin Battlefield Cemetery. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Brittany American Cemetery Location: Saint James (Manche), France. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
