Rank: Corporal. Inducted into the United States Army January 15, 1941 at Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia. Following recruit and advanced infantry training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations, and served with the U.S. Army 753rd Tank Battalion. Sunday, June 10, 1945 he was mortally wounded, during a combat engagement, against the German forces. Personnel from a Grave Registration Company buried him in the Saint Avold Battlefield Cemetery at Metz, France. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Lorraine American Cemetery Location: St. Avold (Moselle), France. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
