On February 3, 1942, he was inducted into the service at Camp Upton, New York and sent to Fort McClellan, Alabama, for his basic training. he was with the 106th Infantry, 27th Division, assigned to the Medical Corps. He served in the Pacific theatre of Operations and was wounded during the Saipan invasion on June, 25, 1944. After four and one-half years of service he held two Battle Stars and the Purple Heart. On September 5, 1945, he was discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
