Rank: Staff Sergeant. Inducted into the United States Army March 29, 1942 at Denver, Colorado. Following recruit and advanced infantry training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations. He served as a Squad Leader with the 357th Infantry Regiment, an element of the 90th Infantry ‘Tough Ombres’ Division, attached to the U.S. First Army. His division participated in the siege of Metz, France, and the capture of Maizieres-les-Metz, France (Battle Dates: September 14-19 November 1944), against the German armed forces. Monday, October 9, 1944 he was mortally wounded while participating in the capture of Metz. Personnel from a Grave Registration Company buried him in the Grand Failly Battlefield Cemetery Longuyou, France. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Luxembourg American Cemetery Location: Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
