On March 13, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and received his basic training at Kessler Field, Mississippi. He was assigned to Army Airways Communications, 120th Army Airways Communication System, 59th Group, 3rd Wing. He was graduated from three Army radio schools. For twenty months he served in the Aleutian Islands. On July 11, 1946, he was honorably discharged from the service at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He holds the Radio Special Medal, the North Pacific Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon.
