He was called to service on November 9, 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi, and was assigned to Company F, 517th Regiment, Quartermaster Truck Division, where he provided plumbing work. From there he went to Persia for two years and then to China for six months. he received the following awards: American theatre, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, Good Conduct and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign. He was discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey on November 8, 1945.
