Activity During WWII

On the same day that he graduated high school in June of 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. With the Medical Corps, he took his boot training at Newport, Rhode Island and later attended the Hospital Corps school at Portsmouth, Virginia. From Portsmouth he was transferred to the Navy Hospital in New River, North Carolina. After a short stay he was transferred to ABATU on Lido Beach, New York. He was then assigned to Fleet Hospital 116 and entered the Okinawa Campaign in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. On completion of necessary points he was returned to Lido Beach for discharge on April 24, 1946.
