Activity During WWII

Weeks after the attack at Pearl Harbor, at age 16, he became a sheet metal apprentice at Hickman’s Air Force Base. During the war, he repaired U.S. military aircraft that fought over the Pacific. He worked on fighter planes, such as the B-24, and readied them for the Battle of Midway. He served in the U.S. Army and traveled to Japan, including Hiroshima and Korea.
