Rank: Captain. Inducted into the United States Army April 9, 1942 at Cleveland, Ohio. Upon his graduation from recruit training, he was designated to attend the Flight Aviation Training Program. As a graduate of the Aviation Cadet program, he accepted his commission with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He served as a member of the 1403rd Air Force Base Unit, and based at an unknown Royal Air Force Station in England. Friday, August 11, 1944 he died in a non-battle accident. Personnel from a Graves Registration Company buried him in the Cambridge Battlefield Cemetery, England. In the post-war era, this Airman’s family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Cambridge American Cemetery Location: Cambridge, England. This American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously: Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters. The Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to the Captain for Heroism or Extraordinary Achievement while participating in aerial flight. The Air Medal was awarded for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.
