He served in Company K, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 6th Marine Division of the U.S. Marine Corps. On May 22, 1945, he was killed in action during the Battle of Okinawa. He posthumously received the Purple Heart and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
