He worked for Livingston Shipyard prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. He was inducted on July 30, 1943, and entered active duty on August 13th of that same year. At that time he served as a Corporal in Troop Americal Division. He also served as a Military Policeman. He spent most of his service in Bougainville. He was discharged on February 5, 1946. Received the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars and 1 bronze arrowhead, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star.
