Activity During WWII

After previously serving in the Navy, he re-enlisted in 1942. After receiving his boot training in Rhode Island, he was sent overseas where he took part in the North African Campaign, the invasion battle of Sicily and the Italian Campaign. After 18 months of service in the European Theatre of Operations, he spent a year in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was attached to the Third Marines and participated in the Invasion of Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in October 1945, after three years in the service.
