Activity During WWII

On March 17, 1941, he was inducted at Camp Belvoir, Virginia, and later continued his basic training at Camp Clairborne, Louisiana with the 755th Engineers Battalion Railway Shop, Company A. At Camp Clairborne he was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Camp Millard, Ohio, where he was attached to the railway shops. He again returned to Camp Clairborne and taught basic training to men just entering the service. He was transferred to Camp Atterbury, Indiana and in December 1943 went overseas to the European Theatre of Operations, where he participated in the Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns. His awards include the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. On September 10, 1945, he was honorably discharged from Fort Dix, New Jersey.
