Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 12, 1942. He received three weeks boot training and then was assigned to the Destroyer USS Nelson. His ship was engaged in Atlantic Patrol to South American ports, and his duties took him to the U.S. Naval Unit in Dakar, Africa, to Casablanca, to Sicily, Salerno, Palermo and Messina Straits. On March 30, 1945, he received an honorable discharge from Camp Peary.
