He was inducted February 12, 1942. He was sent to Camp Barkley, Texas and shipped overseas on June 4, 1942 to Scotland. Transferred on to England he was first appointed First Sergeant of the 30th General Hospital, Mansfield. On July 20, 1944, he went to Omaha Beachhead in Normandy as stationed in a tent hospital at La Haye Du Puits, France. In October 1944, He was transferred to the medical Administration Corps in Belgium. Further assignments followed at Lille, France; Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium, Stafford, Shrivenham, Warton, Tidworth and Stockbridge, England. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Battle Stars, the Good Conduct medal, a Certificate of Meritorious Service and the WWII Victory Medal. On his return return to the United States, he became the Detachment Commander at Halloran General Hospital, Staten Island, New York.
