On August 24, 1942, he was called to the U.S. Army and received his basic training with the Medical Division at Camp Pickett, Virginia. He was assigned to the 560th MSHPS. On February 17, 1946, he was honorably discharged under the point system at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal.
