He was called to service in March of 1943. He was placed in Company C of the 82nd Engineering Battalion. Two weeks after induction he was sent to Camp Clairborne, Louisiana where for 30 months he served as an instructor on tanks. Later he was transferred to Camp Wolters, Texas and was assigned to the Military Police with Headquarters Company, 18th Group, 3860th Service Command Unit for four months. He received the American Theatre Campaign medal, the Good Conduct medal and the WWII Victory medal. He was discharged on January 28, 1946 at Camp Fannin, Texas.
