Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on December 11, 1942. He received his boot training at Parris Island, South Carolina. At Quantico, Virginia, he attended the Reserve Officer School. As a member of the Marine Fighting Squadron 313, he saw considerable action in the Philippine Islands, Tacloban, Tanuan and Zamboanga. On December 11, 1944, his squadron participated in an attack on a enemy convoy on Ormoc Bay. He engaged in fighting for almost every major island in the Philippines. He was also established at a base at Midway, and in the Admiralty and Solomon Islands. On March 21, 1946, he was honorably discharged at San Diego, California, at the U.S. Marine Air Depot.
