Awarded the Silver Star for Conspicuous Gallantry and intrepidity as a senior officer of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard, aboard a U.S. Freighter while that vessel was en route from Oran to Casablanca in 1943. Honored by the Russian Government for 'Outstanding Military activities in transporting war goods to Russia Northern Ports on The Murmansk Run'. He has kept a diary ad scrapbook of his experiences.
