Activity During WWII

Rank: Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Army March 8, 1943 with induction at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following his infantry training, he was deployed to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. He served as a Rifleman with the 30th Infantry Regiment, an element of the Third Infantry ‘Rock of the Marne’ Division, attached to the U.S. Seventh Army. His Division participated in the ‘Battle of Anzio’, Italian Campaign (Battle Dates: January 22-June 5, 1944) Code Name: Operation Shingle. Wednesday, March 1, 1944 he was killed in action, during a combat engagement with the German and Italian armed forces. Personnel from a Grave Registration Company buried him in the Paestum Battlefield Cemetery, Mount Soprano, Italy. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery Location: Nettuno, Italy. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
