Rank: Corporal. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps December 9, 1942 with induction at Boston, Massachusetts. He completed basic training with the Ninth Recruit Battalion Recruit Depot; Marine Barracks, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon his graduation from recruit training, he was designate to attend the Flight Aviation Training Program. After completing Aerographer’s Schooling at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Lake Hurst, New Jersey, he was transferred to the Naval Air Station on Midway Island. Assigned to the Marine Fighter Squadron-221, VMF-221, Marine-Air-Group-22, an element of the Second Marine Air Wing Location: North Pacific Theater of Operations. Wednesday, May 10, 1944 he was reported missing in action or buried at sea. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Honolulu Memorial Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. In his Memory and Honor, this American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
