Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Army August 21, 1943 with induction at Cincinnati, Ohio. After completing the required training phases, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations. He served as a Rifleman, assigned to the 30th Infantry Regiment, an element of the Third Infantry ‘Rock of the Marne’ Division, attached to the U.S. Seventh Army. When the war ended in Europe May 8, 1945, his unit was based at Salzburg, Austria. Thursday, May 17, 1945 he died of unknown causes, and personnel from a Grave Registration Company buried him in the Saint Avold Battlefield Cemetery Location: Metz, France. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at the Lorraine American Cemetery Location: Saint Avold (Moselle), France. In his Memory and Honor, this American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
