Activity During WWII

Rank: Corporal. Inducted into the United States Army May 10, 1943 with induction at Denver, Colorado. After completing the required training phases at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was deployed to the Pacific Theater of Operations. He served with the 240th Engineer Construction Battalion, and based at Hollandia, New Guinea. In November of 1944 his battalion was assigned to the Landing Ship Tank LST-740 for movement to Leyte, Philippine Islands. Thursday, December 21, 1944 he was reported missing in action, when his Ship was sunk by an Imperial Japanese Kamikaze Pilot. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Location: Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippines. In his Memory and Honor, this American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
