Rank: Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Colorado Army National Guard, who was inducted into Federal Service February 1, 1939 at Denver, Colorado. He served with the U.S. Army 193rd Tank Battalion, assigned to Delta Company, and a subordinate unit of the Twenty-Seventh Infantry 'O’Ryan’s Roughnecks’ Division, attached to the U.S. Tenth Army. His battalion participated in the amphibious assault, and occupation of Okinawa Island Location: Northwest Pacific Theater of Operations. Friday, April 27, 1945 he was killed in action, during offensive operations against the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces. Personnel from a Graves Registration Company buried him in the 27th Division Okinawa Battlefield Cemetery. In the post-war era, this Soldiers’ family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Honolulu Memorial Cemetery, with interment June 17, 1949 Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. This American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously. Silver Star and the Purple Heart. The Silver Star was awarded to the Colonel for Distinguished Gallantry in Action and Valor in Combat against an enemy force, and the Purple Heart, for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
