Drafted in January 1943 and served with the military police in North Africa, Morocco, and Casablanca. He later served with the 295th combat battalion and participated in the battles of Monte Massino and Anzio on the way to liberating Rome. He spent time in Southern France, the Rhineland, Central Europe and Germany and participated in the battle of the bulge. He was honored to escort General Eisenhower to the front line while serving in France. Awarded the EAMETO medal, the good conduct medal, and the WWII victory medal. Honorably discharged November 1945.
