Brigadier General. Graduated first in his 1930 class at the US Military Academy. In 1941 he was part of the US Iranian Mission. In March 1942 he went to the China-Burma-India Theater at Karachi. He returned to Iran in March as commander of the 705th Railway Grand Division, he ran the Bengal and Assam Railway. He was awarded the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Army Distinguished Service Medal and Order of Homayoun (Iran).
