He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was attached to the 759th Field Artillery Battalion. He was killed in action on April 14, 1945, while serving in the European Theater. Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
