Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Army June 10, 1944 at Fort Logan, Colorado. Following the completion of his basic military training and combat training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations. He served as a Rifleman, assigned to Charlie Company, First Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment and an element of the Third Infantry Division, attached to the U.S. Seventh Army. His division participated in the assault on the Siegfried Line positions south of Zweibrücken, Germany. Thursday, March 15, 1945 he was reported missing in action, during offensive operations against the German armed forces, succeeding the battle. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial Located at Saint Avold (Moselle), France. In his Memory and Honor, this American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously: Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. The Bronze Star was awarded to this Soldier for his Bravery, Act of Merit and Meritorious Service in Combat, and the Purple Heart for his Heroism and ultimate sacrifice.
