Activity During WWII

In early stages of World War II assigned to Department of Physics at West Point. In early 1944 assigned to staff of the Assistant Chief of Staff (Personnel), with the U.S. Armed Forces in the Far East. Stationed thereafter in Australia, New Guinea, and the Southern Philippines. Credited with participation in the New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon campaigns and was involved with recovery of U.S. prisoners of war from Japanese prison camps. Also responsible for general supervision of the readjustment program which returned U.S. troops from the Asiatic Theaters of war to the U.S.
