Activity During WWII

He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served four years. He was sent on the USS Mount Vernon to Australia, where he was selected to break horses so they could take supplies into rough terrain. In New Guinea, he worked in the Quartermaster's Corps and shipped supplies all over the Pacific Theater. At the end of the war in the Philippines, he and his unit were tasked with disinterring the bodies of American servicemen killed on the island.
