Activity During WWII

He enlisted in the US Army in 1942. He volunteered to become a paratrooper and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division "Easy Company". He was a mortar man that parachuted onto the French countryside and his division the "Screaming Eagles" held a town for the Allies during the Battle of the Bulge where he was injured in the leg. Fought across France, Holland and Belgium before reaching Austria. His unit participated in the occupation of Berchtesgaden. Received the Purple Heart and French Legion of Honor.
